Why Is Water So Important?
If you have had a massage, you have heard it before, “drink lots of water after each session, it will help flush out all those toxins.”
Toxins enter our muscles through many different ways, through poor diet, medications, drinking, smoking, the air we breathe, the chemicals we use on our bodies and many more ways. Physical activity, stress and injuries create the muscle tissues to build-up toxins in specific areas of the body. Lactic acids, stress hormones, and dehydration are all causes of knots.
Drinking water after a massage is often recommended because toxins are released by the muscles as the massage therapist manipulates them. Consuming water after your session will help rehydrate the muscles and help the kidneys and other organs flush out the toxins that were released.
When you put medication in your body to help ease the pain or for any kind of headache or migraine symptom relief, pills leave excess toxins behind. These toxins will eventually settle into our muscles causing muscle tightness and spasms. It is also not uncommon to have muscles tighten or go into spasm due to extreme muscle dehydration caused from lack of sufficient water intake. When toxins build up within your muscle tissues, you will feel sluggish and your muscles create knots.
Water is such an undervalued tool for the body and it has so many benefits. It helps with headaches, hunger, general hydration, organ health, and weight loss.
